AESTHETIC

Aesthetic dentistry

Beautiful, natural-looking smiles, thoughtfully designed to balance aesthetics, function and long-term dental health.

What it is

Aesthetic dentistry covers whitening, composite bonding and porcelain veneers — three very different things that are often talked about as one.

Teeth whitening enhances the natural colour of your teeth, composite bonding can improve their shape and appearance, while porcelain veneers offer another option for refining their colour, shape and overall aesthetics.

Each treatment has its own indications and advantages. Following a thorough assessment, we will discuss the most appropriate options for your individual needs and desired outcome.

Who it is for

Anyone unhappy with the colour, shape or spacing of the teeth that show when they smile. It is also the finishing stage of many orthodontic and restorative plans.

Why we do it this way

Achieving a natural-looking smile requires more than simply changing the appearance of individual teeth. Each treatment is carefully considered in relation to your existing teeth, bite and overall dental health.

Where appropriate, teeth whitening may be recommended before restorative or aesthetic treatment to establish your preferred tooth shade. Depending on your individual needs, further improvements may be achieved through composite bonding, porcelain veneers or a combination of treatments.

Our aim is to recommend the most suitable approach while preserving healthy tooth structure wherever clinically possible.

01

Consultation and Assessment

We begin with a thorough dental examination, supported by clinical photographs and X-rays where required. We take time to understand what you would like to improve, assess your oral health and discuss the treatment options best suited to your expectations.

02

Smile Design and Preview

Where appropriate, we can create a preview of your proposed smile using digital photographs, study models or temporary mock-ups placed over your existing teeth. This allows you to visualise and discuss the potential changes before committing to treatment.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Things people ask us about Aesthetic Dentistry

Will whitening damage my teeth?

When carried out appropriately under professional supervision, teeth whitening is generally considered safe. Some patients may experience temporary sensitivity or gum irritation, which usually settles after treatment.

How long does composite bonding last?

Five to seven years is typical, and it can be polished or repaired rather than replaced. How long it lasts depends a great deal on grinding, biting habits and how well it is cleaned.
